

Inclement Weather
For the safety of children and staff, when the weather condition becomes inclement, the outdoor activities or routines should be reduced or cancelled.

When any of the following advisory or weather condition occurs, the weather is considered inclement and all outdoor activities or routines must be cancelled. The responsible staff will advise the Director and children will return to TCD.

Temperature is below -12 degrees Celsius (actual temperature or due to wind chill)

Temperature is above 30 degrees Celsius

Heavy rain
-
Thunderstorm
-
Lightning
-
Blizzard (snowstorm with high winds and low visibility)

Sleet (precipitation consisting of ice pellets, mixed with rain or snow)
-
Hail (frozen rain)
-
Extreme winds (exceeding 65 km/hr)
-
Humidex (over 40 Celsius)
-
UV index (over 6 or over)

Other severe weather warnings such as smog alert or air quality warnings
If the weather is extremely inclement (for example, outdoor temperature is lower than -30 degrees Celsius), the Director may decide to close TCD early or delay opening TCD. Parents/Guardians will be advised (about 30 minutes before drop off time) of the decision by the Director or designated staff.
When the weather condition is not inclement, it is up to the responsible staff’s discretion to continue, reduce or cancel any outdoor activities or routines. The decision has to be reported to the Director.
